EEP Phase III
The Phase III of the Energizing Education Programme (EEP), funded by the African Development
Bank (AfDB) under the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), is currently under construction
across 8 universities spanning Nigeria's 6 geopolitical zones.
This phase provides reliable electricity access to 148,361 students through uninterrupted power
supply systems and installs 250 streetlights across campuses for enhanced safety. The program
achieves significant environmental impact with 6.08 kilotons of annual CO2 savings by replacing
diesel generators with cleaner energy alternatives.
The AfDB-supported NEP initiative emphasizes capacity building with 200 staff members
receiving practical training in renewable energy systems, while 800 students gain hands-on
experience through state-of-the-art training centers. Gender inclusion is prioritized with 160
female students receiving specialized training.
Phase III demonstrates the AfDB's partnership with Nigeria through the NEP in advancing
renewable energy education across all geopolitical zones and accelerating the country's clean
energy transition.
